Production ecology experience
Spectrum Ecology supports film and television productions working in protected landscapes, historic properties and ecologically sensitive locations across the UK.
Our role is to help production teams understand ecological considerations, secure the information needed for location permissions and work responsibly without unnecessary disruption to the creative process.
Working across exceptional locations
Our experience includes filming in woodlands, coastal landscapes, historic buildings, designated sites and habitats supporting protected species.
We have advised on location selection, tech recces, crew access, lighting, drones, marine activity, stunts, special effects and the practical protection of wildlife and habitats during filming.
Supporting major productions
We have worked with production teams connected with leading broadcasters, studios and streaming platforms. Some projects remain confidential, so we do not publish a complete production list.
Whether a project requires an early ecological review, documentation for a sensitive location or an ecologist present during filming, we provide clear and proportionate support from planning through to the final shot.
Repeat locations and long-term relationships
Productions often return to complex locations. Our familiarity with a site, its habitats and the practical realities of filming can help future visits run more smoothly.
We build constructive working relationships with location managers, production departments, landowners and conservation specialists, providing continuity across repeat filming and changing production requirements.
Our approach
- Early identification of ecological considerations
- Practical advice shaped around the production schedule
- Clear communication with locations and production departments
- Proportionate mitigation for sensitive habitats and protected species
- On-set support when ecological supervision is required
- Professional discretion around confidential productions and locations
